Colorado Cylinder Stove - Spruce Stove Package

$489.99

Description

There is nothing quite like the warmth and comfort of a wood burning stove. This top-notch stove package is compatible with Kodiak Canvas stove ready tents (models 6170, 6173 and 6116).

  • Built to last! – This stove is constructed of heavy 10 and 12 gauge steel so it will hold heat longer, last longer, and keep you warm when it’s freezing outside.
  • No warping – Your stove top is reinforced with 1" x 1" angle iron so it won’t warp while burning high heat fuel such as coal. The door is also reinforced and the cylinder shape of the stove body will naturally keep it from distorting.
  • More Radiant Heat – Because this stove is made of heavy duty steel, it will hold onto heat longer and provide more radiant heat unlike lighter gauge sheet metal stoves. This will allow you to heat a larger area and will perform better with colder temperatures.
  • Cook Top – The top of your stove is designed so you have room for a pot or skillet so you can cook a nice hot meal while you’re in the great outdoors.
  • Compact - All of the accessories fit inside the stove for easy storage and transportation.
  • Made in America by Colorado Cylinder Stove.

As former machinist I can tell you this stove is well designed and well built. Very stout and more than capable of heating my 12x12 wall tent very quickly.

Wall Tents - The most comfortable way to be away from home and in the woods. A good wood stove is one of the most important things to have.

Kodiak 12x16 Cabin Tent - Pretty Awesome

We purchased the 12x16 Cabin Tent bundle including the tent, stove, 8x8 addition, and tarp. We took our first trip to Seneca Rocks, WV in March. The weather was atrocious. We had non-stop rain Saturday, snow on Sunday, and (according to the weather forecast) winds of 20-30 mph with gusts up to 50mph.

All through it the tent kept us dry and warm. With the 8x8 addition we had a place to cook out of the weather and with temperatures around 30 degrees outside, we were able to get to the inside to 70+ degrees when we got the wood stove going. The only real concern was the winds. Not sure what winds the tent is rated for but I would avoid camping in higher winds in the future. That said, none of the tent poles bent and the tent stayed where we set it up but some of the strong gusts definitely moved the stove a little - which was a concern. Though this isn't a knock on the tent at all, just something to keep in mind.

Overall, we were very impressed with the tent and are looking forward to our future trips.

Jim - thank you for the great review! In the future, anytime you're expecting wind, we advise that you also attach guy ropes to the stove pipe (outside the tent) to help secure it. Take some bailing wire and go around the pipe with some loops to secure the guy ropes to (don't secure the ropes directly to the stove pipe or they could catch fire). To your point, the stove pipe can be a hazard in high winds (assuming you're burning at the same time).
The tent itself can withstand decent winds (we've heard some stories!), and the key is making sure the guy ropes are staked into firm ground. Soft ground can cause issues with stakes pulling up in the wind.

Awesome investment

Thank you to John for taking my call and helping answer all the questions we had before our purchase. We camped up in northern Maine this last weekend. It was 11degrees out and all the boys in there were comfy. Definitely will need to get auger style stakes for the frozen ground for next time. But it’s a learning experience. Great product and easy setup.
