12x12 Cabin Lodge Tent SR (Stove Ready)

$999.99

Description

The 12x12 Kodiak Canvas Cabin Lodge Stove Ready (SR) tent is where rugged meets refinement. Made with high performance, Hydra-Shield™, 100% cotton duck canvas. The tight weave and silicone finish make this canvas watertight yet breathable, minimizing condensation and mugginess that are common with synthetic tents. The sewn-in floor is a tough 13.5 oz vinyl with welded seams, that keeps water out. The tall ceiling (7.5 ft. at peak) and vertical wall design (4 ft. at sides) provide a roomy interior with stand-up, walk-around comfort. The large front door means no crouching when you come and go. Six large windows provide openness, and excellent airflow. Windows can be opened and closed from inside the tent, and feature no-see-um, screen mesh that keeps the smallest bugs out. A covered storm window and vents can be opened to circulate outside air, even when rainy. The door and windows feature top-rated YKK zippers. This design, boasting a frame with 1-inch, galvanized, steel tubing, will hold up to strong winds and even snow loads. A stove jack allows for use of a wood burning stove to keep you warm when temperatures drop. When using the tent without a stove, just zip the stove jack cover closed. The 8x8 ft. enclosed awning accessory (sold separately) increases the space by 44%, and provides a nice area to get out of the weather or store extra gear. A zippered storage bag and hefty, 12-inch, steel tent stakes are included. Requires two adults for setup. Limited lifetime warranty.

Stove heats up rubber insert

Day one we experience the rubber melting from the heat of the chimney. Any recommendations for prevention?

It is extremely important to read all owner's manuals thoroughly before use when dealing with a stove tent. The stove jack will melt if the stove is ran 'red-hot' as warned against in the owner's manual. Be sure to never run your stove pipe red hot and damper down the fire as needed. You can also get a magnetic thermometer and place it directly to the stove pipe to ensure the pipe is not exceeding temperatures of 500 degrees fahrenheit.

Slide locks failed

Overall tent seems to be well constructed. However after initial setup(which was pretty quick and easy with two people), the next two days were windy out of the south with 20-25mph sustained and up to 40-45mph gusts. The slide locks provided on the tent continuously failed and part of the tent would lay over. To the point where one of the stake loops in the corner actually tore off. Not a ruined tent, but not something you want to happen to a 2K expenditure on day 3.

We are very sorry for the issues you have encountered in high winds. We would love to look into this issue further. Please email our customer service for help using our contact us form.

Extremely happy with my Kodiak Canvas 12x12

Excellent quality, ease of assembly. Wish it had a zippered access port for electrical cords etc. Looking forward to many years of use and enjoyment.

Nice tent

We used this tent recently on a northern AZ hunting trip. It's a very spacious and sturdy tent. It held up well under high wind gusts. It's definitely waterproof, as it did rain a small amount. It's relatively easy to put up and take down by two people. It makes an excellent hot tent; it got very cold at night.

On the negative side are the lack of tethering points along the lower window-side walls where they meet the roof. There are several along the roof center-line, but none on the walls. It would have been helpful to have points to attach storage bags or small storage hammock. Another complaint is the floor. Where our cots were setup, directly under the cot feet, the top layer of plastic wore through the plastic layer to the material below. It's surprising that this would wear through so quickly after just five days of use. Finally, the door doesn't have a screen door as well as a solid door. Some might consider it an unnecessary addition, but I think it's better to have one and have the choice to use it or not.

Overall, I am pleased with the tent and am glad to have it.

We appreciate your honest feedback and will take it into consideration when redesigning/designing our tents. The best way to ensure cots will not rub too much against the vinyl floor is by using foot pads. We sell some for the Disc-O-Bed cots on our website to give you an idea of what to look for. Hope this helps with future use!
