Colorado Stove

While I have not used the stove to heat the tent yet, I have seasoned it and observed its general functionality and performance. This is a well built stove that is both practical and reliable. Not a lot of fancy gadgets, just solid dependability. The damper works as it should and allows for air control which will be essential for overnight heating. The nesting stove pipe and the fact that everything packs inside the stove make it easy to store and keep up with when loading in or out. Love it!

I purchased the 10”x10” tent package with stove at the western hunting expo. While I haven’t used the tent yet, my family and I are super excited about it.

The only disappointment was the stove. When I unboxed it I noticed it had some very poor finish on the paint and was already rusty with paint chipping on the door. I am not the type to complain so I’ll just deal with it, but it was a little disappointing.

Other than that, I am super excited to go camping this year with the family! Thank you Kodiak for playing a part in future family adventures.

We are sorry to hear about the trouble with your stove. We believe Colorado Stove is the best wood burning cylinder stove available. That is certainly not normal, and not the experience we want customers to have. We will reach out to you individually to get this resolved. We are also taking steps to see this does not happen in the future.

Great stove

I have a smaller version of this stove works great puts out a ton of heat I went bigger in hopes that bigger logs would burn longer so I could get more sleep and less stoking the fire as I use it for hunting at over 9k ft elevation temps at night are teens to single digits

I’ve used this in my shelter in temps down to 10F. I have not used it yet in my Kodiak canvas 10x16, but based on its performance in an uninsulated three wall structure with a bunch of eave gaps and a tarps closing off the front, the stove would be more than enough to heat up a good size canvas tent, probably down to 0°F depending on the wind, etc. Once you get the cast-iron hot enough to boil water near the stack, the stove is throwing mad heat. Once the red coal layer approaches the bottom of the air intakes, you’ve reached full sauna mode; you’ll want a good heat glove on to stoke the fire. at this point, I use about one milk crate filled with split wood every hour or so when it is 20F or lower, to keep the balmy going strong, so plan to spend some good quality time amassing a supply of wood; if you like to play with fire, you will be happy - the stove responds well to frequent tending I’m thinking a thermal electric fan sitting on top would be a worthy addition The build quality matches that of all Kodiak products; completely fantastic, every detail. It is easy to take down and store. Safety note; if you plan on using the stove for a prolonged amount of time (like an all day/evening hang out during a blizzard)- you want to be prepared catch red coals that you might cause to tumble out the front when you are tending the fire (they really build up nicely over some hours). A small, well-placed baking sheet works for me, then I can just toss them back in the firebox or put the tray under the stove on the heat resistant pad. The coals in the tray then burn out and can be dealt with more easily.
