If you just buy the tent, you will be missing out on this great option! Made our stay extremely comfortable in the north Georgia mountains, particularly during some rain we had while staying there! We moved everything up under the awning and it was perfect. Looking forward to using the sides later on - but we did not need them on this trip. Suggestion: We purchased a 12'x20' tarp to go under our tent and it gave us a flooring under the awning which kept down the tracking of dirt in to our main 12'x12' tent. I highly recommend this!
With some initial problems upon arrival, I became concerned over the level of customer service I was receiving, or not receiving. However, a new Kodiak Canvas service rep took over and smoothed things over very quickly. The problems were handled quickly, professionally and efficiently. We are not prepared to fully review the tent just yet, but will do it soon. Initial impressions include words like high quality and the perfect tent for our needs.
Works good for 12x16 kodiak. Use small stakes to hold down if putting tent up solo

Really nice bag. Great materials and construction. The poncho-like attachment is really smart. Very warm. I do wish that they offered the option of having the zipper on either side. I'm a side sleeper and if you sleep on your right side, the zipper side is behind you. Harder to manage your temperature when you can't stick a leg out or have the zipper easily accessible in front of yourself. I'll manage.
