After 5 months of use I love the tent combo I received. There are some subtle changes that I believe would benefit the tent for all to enjoy.
1. A power entry port that is zippered. My last 3 trips I have utilzed my solar generator for on site power for lighting and charging devices, however when I go to plug in my panels I have to run things through the door zippers and this has allowed unwanted critters to enter so a zippered power entry would reduce this.
2. The awing having to sheath over the midridge pole is a pain, then the zipper going across keeps getting stuck right at the center no matter how much wax has been applied. It also collects water even when stretched tight and every tie point utilzed. The gromet attachments get bound up as well allowing water to enter down the poles, then a tarp that size is simply not available in my area at least so have had to use a larger one 8x10 or 8x12 and fold under before staking down the sides.
3. Double zippers on the door entries would be nice addition.
4. Lower ventilation ports like the uppers to allow more ventilation in colder environments, and a second storm awning on the opposite side for cross ventilation.
5. Stove needs a dedicated attachment for a flue dampener instead of an aftermarket to drill in yourself type. A dedicated spot for a **** in type thermometer to monitor flue temps, below the dampener so you do not melt the jack plate gasket. Then the step grate needs lifted 3/4 of an inch to allow for better air flow and ash to settle. Have added 2 pieces of 1 inch angle iron and then a piece of expanded metal on top to allow coals to stay higher and ash to fall through.
6. Along the ridge, more loops for attaching accessories such a lights and fans.
7. Center support pole needs a trough to support the center ridge pole instead of pressing on the canvas to support it. Even though this area is reinforced I am already seeing signs of excessive wear. Also a few more attachment points for accessories.
8. Sides need 1 more foot of height to allow more of the square footage of the tent to be utilized.
9. Handles on poles that have the spring button type height adjustments. When you are trying eo extend or retract under tension, especially in wet conditions, this turns into a 4 to 5 hand task to accomplish as I found out this last trip while setting and breaking camp. This can be a removable/clamp on type as well.
10. An interrior floor ground tarp that is not vinyl, maybe canvas or woven drop cloth to be offered in the bundle. This just helps with debris and floor management. Also on the stove fire resistant cover needs to be bigger than the 3x4, needs to be 6x8 minimum.
11. Stove area walls needs a heat reflective material. We measured temps approching 180 degrees F on this last trip and could have been reduced some with better heat reflective material.
If some one from Kodiak Canvass would like to reach out to me, especially the R&D department, please do so, would be interested in testing and collaborationg things out for finding solutions to these.

Great review and great feedback. We're a small company, so in addition to running the website, I'm also on the R&D team :) We're planning tent line upgrades right now - so your feedback is timely. -JT
Watched a bunch of videos of which wall tent to buy and the Kodiak kept showing up as one of the best so I pulled trigger and bought the 12x16’. This tent is amazing! I set it up very first time by myself 8 weeks after having a total knee replacement so that shows it’s not hard to set up! The quality is evident everywhere where you look, seems sewn straight, zippers work flawlessly, stove pipe opening is perfect, and I could go on and on but just want to say buy one you will NEVER regret your purchase!!!! Oh I want to talk about one negative I kept seeing on videos, people talk about tent not having a screen door only the canvas, I can not understand this at all because there is a huge window right beside each door!!! This is so much better than a zippered screen to get in your way at the door! Come on people Kodiak did it right, only one piece of canvas to deal with a two zippers!! So much better than canvas door and a screen on doorway!!! I bought this tent for 2028 elk hunt in Montana, bought it now to get familiar with set up, and to see what things work and what doesn’t as for as tent and camp set up. I am glad I did as I am loving camping in this tent, best camping experience I have ever had due to Kodiak tent
got this as a for life purchase of sorts and am not disappointed at all. canvas side feels soft and incredibly strong at the same time, the insulation is thick and super soft, and the flannel side almost feels warm to the touch. I got a second one for some family and they love it just as much as I do. it's the warmest, thickest and softest blanket I'll probably ever own. I love this quilt so much <3
Love it! Comes in so handy for overnighting streamside on my weekend fishing trips!
Based on the inaugural outing, the tent is spacious, well-designed, and very rugged. It was a huge upgrade over our previous 10x10 nylon tent in almost every way: more comfortable to be in due to breathability, simple to set up, very rugged, and even more spacious than the extra 4' would suggest, due to the verticality of the walls. I have strong confidence it will last me for years to come.
