Been wanting a canvas tent for years as I’ve used them with guides. They’re quiet and comfortable and breathe (no noticeable condensation). Went with flexbow style because it’s easier to set up than cabin style (too many poles) and bell tent (too many guy ropes). I often camp for one or two nights and then move so ease of setup/takedown was key. Usable space was also important (the bell tents are nice but you lose the height once you move towards the walls…and if you do the math a 10ft diameter circle has less floor space than a 10ft square. Since the walls are nearly vertical the usable space is comparable to a cabin style. Loved the Kodiak bc it has two doors (which is nice to have..never understood the argument that you don’t need two doors…if you don’t want two then just don’t use one, problem solved?) and the vx windows are huge as well which adds to ventilation. Also the cover top is much more practical to use than other cover tops, so I use it every time which, protects the tent from sap and birds and you can still use the awning when it’s on…plus it has grommets that you guy out if it was howling but I’ve not needed that. The stitching is perfect and the zippers are flawless. The burrito bag makes life easy (I hate having to re-fold stuff to fit it into a tube duffle). You’re not carrying it anywhere far unless you’ve got pack animals so this is car camping. I got the 10x10 bc sometimes we use sites that have smallish pads. It’s absolutely perfect with two on cots. 3 on cots is tight. 4 on pads is no problem..could probably do 5 on pads with less gear in tent…my cots are 36 wide. The loft is a super nice place just to toss stuff as are the hanging organizers. My only regret is i didn’t get it sooner. Used it about a dozen times. It goes up fast (about 20 minutes) and each time I get faster. Just had it out in north central PA and we got a ton of driving rain. I fully expected and would have been ok with some leaking, even with the cover top because it absolutely poured sideways for 5 hours. The creek shot up over to 3500cfs from about 700…and the mountain was leaking water for almost two days after. The tent stayed dry inside and I was shocked. If you are car camping or using animals to carry gear you won’t regret this tent. Granted I’ve had it less than a year but there is are no aspects that I am concerned will fail anytime soon. You won’t regret it.
