Best tent I’ve ever had!

I’ve had my flex bow tent for 8 years now. This is honestly one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. I do historical reenactment and often go to the summer camping events (historically accurate tent not required). I loved canvas for its breathability compared to the standard polyester/nylon type material used in most camping tents. I had originally thought of getting a historically accurate tent but realized that I wouldn’t be able to set them up by myself due to the nature of my physical disability.

Then I saw someone who had a Kodiak tent and talked their ear off with questions while they responded with equal enthusiasm about how much they loved their tent. They also showed me how easy tear down was. So when I got home I researched and read reviews and watched any video I could find. I decided that the 10x10 would be best for me and my service dog and saved up to get it.

And now to the main reason I’m writing this review. This last camping trip had three big thunderstorms one of which collapsed many other pop up tents around camp. My tent was rock solid as always and became the haven for me, my service dog, and 3 other people while we waited for the storm to pass so we could go back out and fix the tents. This makes the 10th storm my tent has gone through and each time it has held up like a champ.

In my opinion this tent is 100% worth every penny. It has kept me safe and dry for 8 years (used about 5 times a year) and it still is like new. This is truly the best tent out there.

Excellent quality tent. Highly recommend, looking forward to a week of moose hunting in Maine this fall.

Best I’ve used.

This is my 3rd Kodiak canvas tent. The first, a 10x14 deluxe, has been great. Hunted out of it for a week in horrendous winds. Held up like a champ. One of the rivets tore on the awning but I really can’t blame the tent. The second, a 6.5x8, I bought used as a smaller shelter where I was the only one going. Used it for a while bear hunting and again no complaints at all. The most recent one is the 10x10 I bought new. I wanted something smaller than the 10x14 that was easier to setup myself but still gave me plenty of room to stand up and move around. I’ve only set it up in the back yard to season and waterproof it but I’m sure it will work just as well as the others. For the 10x14 and the 10x10 I purchased the ground tarp for under it. Well worth it, especially for the $$. A decent tarp would cost the same online or in store and wouldn’t have the stake loops and be the exact size. Are they the cheapest on the market? No. Are they the lightest? Again,no. If a person is ok with the weight and cost go for it. I say buy once cry once. I’ve never regretted spending the money on these. Especially when it’s dumping rain or snow and I don’t have to worry about the tent leaking or collapsing on me. You absolutely get what you pay for. I’ve never been one to leave reviews but these tents are worthy.

Great Purchase

Construction and design are great, have had it out for 2 weekends of camping with my boys and each time have been more impressed. I have a young family, and I wanted a tent that would leave us up high and dry when things hit the fan, the 10x10 flex is has fit the bill!

Only the Best Tent-PERIOD--

Readers; How about a real world review of this Tent from One Who Knows? I will list my bona fides at the end; but for Now, a review. Onward, then- this writer, a Senior Citizen, set forth to 'See the USA, not in his Chevrolet" and wanted a Tent that was not a 'load of bollocks'. I knew I wanted CANVAS for the tent, and NOT Poly-? or Nylon or the like. I have used such tents before. In the rain, I should wear my scuba gear when inside one.
So I spent the Kopecks and got the 10x10 DeLuxe Tent. It came intact to my home. From there, to a local KOA for a test BEFORE I 'get out on the highway, looking for a mens room' and have no room to repent the choice.
The first day out at the KOA site, I hauled the tent out of the EV, set it to the grass, hunted up the 'front', turned and fussed it, and began staking it. GAWD! Real Metal Stakes, not recycled baling wire, a good start. I used a bright orange{so I can find it, maybe, when it moves after I set it down} dead blow hammer for this.
Next the very basic seeming tent poles of real metal. I was dubious at first, having used tents with a 'flock' of poles. OK after READING the instructions, I was truly stunned by the effects of a good design. The tent DOES go up easily, by one man, or one broken down Senior Citizen, and it stays tight, taunt, and upright in the wind.
After set up I hung the fancy sorting bag and the loft bag, which I have not yet figure out the 'how' of yet. Both are very useful. Ditto the misc. pockets to the tent interior, the GOOD zippers to the doors and panels. Note here, put some lubricant, of the sort that does not destroy the finish to the tent waterproofing, to the zippers. I used beeswax, and it makes the zipper a bit more waterproof.
The sewing details of the tent are first rate. The overpanels to the ends of the zipper is a clever way to stop the zipper from coming off the track at the end and re-enforcing the zipper sewing. The floor 'plastics' are a good and solid touch as well..
Take the company hint and buy one or two of the moving blankets for the tent floor. They work dandy with bare feet, they feel good underfoot, and it makes cleaning the tent easy. With two, one can be washed, while the other is used. Further they can be used to wrap breakables when transporting the gear, or even as an underpad to sleep on.
So Reader, if you have made it thus far, thank you--now go out and buy one for YOUR next camping outing.

Who; first tented in Viet Nam, then tented in the Living History Hobby and tented with my late wife in miserable, shoddy, flimsy nylon something tent. Add to: I am a retired historical tailor- so sewing details are known and noted and appreciated- far beyound the skills of 99% of most tent buyers

KiltedTailer,

Thank you for a wonderful review! One note however, we do not recommend putting any kind of lubricant on the tent zippers. Oils, lubes, or even beeswax tend to attract dust and dirt and end up cloggiing up your zipper. In a dirt environment (where most camping occurs) zipper lubes do more harm than good.
