Just finished my second season of camping with this tent and although it has many great qualities, there's one big design issue its with wet weather performance. Good: High quality materials High quality construction Looks great Easy to set up The inside stays dry in torrential rain Bad: The awning pools water. It should be called a rain catcher because that's all it does when it rains. It collects so much water, it starts dripping through the stretched canvas. Easily collected 5 gallons once. When you try to push it up, half the water runs off directly onto the door and you get a mud patch right at the entrance. I have the winged vestibule too, so lowering the poles is not an option, because then the vestibule becomes completely slack and flaps around in the wind, and now the water runs down the inside of the vestibule and everything stored there gets soaked. I tried a telescopic pole to raise the middle of the awning, but that just created two smaller pools of water on each side. I'm disappointed a tent in this price range can't be left up in poor weather without the need to constantly manage enormous amounts of pooled water. ******* Thanks Rob for your honest review. Now for some honest feedback. Please read the instructions!!! The Awning is for shade and shelter from rain. When you expect wet weather, lower a corner of the awing by slanting the pole. Voila! water drains off the low corner. When sunny raise it up and enjoy the shade and extra height under the awing. The owner's manual is filled with lots of helpful info. Happy Camping KC

I love this tent. I can set it up in 15 minutes by myself. This is perfect for guides who spend alot of time in the outdoors and move every few days to another camp.

After years of buying lesser (but still not cheap!) tents that just could't hold up over the long haul and then needing replacement and/or repair, we decided finally to bite the bullet and spend a little more money to get a real quality tent. We did a lot of research, and at last settled on a Kodiak after reading a lot of great reviews for it. We're so glad we did. Before getting into the tent itself, I have to give praise to the customer support at Kodiak. I won't "name names" in respect of their privacy, but the lady and gentleman who assisted me with my several questions over the course of a few days were extremely responsive, knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. It was a top-notch experience from start to finish that made selecting and buying our tent a pleasure. As to the tent itself, the quality was evident from the moment we unpacked it. Solid poles, heavy duty zippers, canvas and flooring that you know will stand the test of time. My son and I had it set up and ready to use in about fifteen minutes and I expect it to take even less time going forward. We then hosed it down as directed to give the canvas a chance to shrink up and seal and were good to go. The tent is thoughtfully laid out, with big windows and cross-vents, and it definitely breathes much better than the old synthetic tents we had used before. We've had a couple of thunderstorms since it's been up and not a drop of water in the tent. Anyone looking for a quality tent should rest easy with this purchase. I wish we had been less "pennywise but pound foolish" with all the money we spent replacing "more affordable" tents all these years and just gotten a Kodiak from the start.

I've been eying this tent for years. Finally saved up enough money to buy it and it arrived in two days. We fell in love! Exceeded my every expectation. It's beautiful and details are top notch. Fastest easiest set up. Folds up really intuitively too. Couldn't be more thrilled. Excited for many memories ahead.

This is a magnificany tent. Ive owned too many tents to count in my life. The quality of this unit is unmatched. It is crazy easy to put up and amazingly sturdy. Happy to say I am out of the tent buying business.

I purchased the equivalent of this tent in about 1980, about 40 years ago. The Kodiak has several improvements made over that original tent which I think make it even better. My tent is still in very good usable shape. It has withstood winds and gusts sustained in the 40 mph gusting to over 60 mph without problems. Almost all of the other tents in the campground were blown over with many sustaining damage. We have had many great experiences using this tent with our large family. I would recommend these tents to anyone.

One of the friends that helped my son on a sheep hunt had a Kodiak 10 x 14 bow flex and when I seen how easy it was to set up and tear down and how sturdy it was, I knew that I needed one not only for myself but several more for my outfitting business. The tents I bought are so comfortable on the early hunts and all the way to the late hunts in December. It was a very good investment.

Like most that have reviewed these tents, I'm very happy with the materials & construction. I've had mine now for a couple years, & so far, it seems to be holding up quite well. The reason for the 4 star rating is the awning design/location. Due to it being below the crest of the tent, & just slightly lower than the end of the awning when extended, it tends to create a pool during rains. My suggestion is to move the awning location to the end, similar to what is done with your cabin tents. I think this would put the portion of the awning that comes off the tent at a higher point allowing for the precip to run off easily. There would still be ample area for an awning (might need to be angled out slightly), & simple modifications could be made to the vestibule design to accommodate the change. ***** Thanks so much for the honest review Steve. As per the owners manual, you need to lower one corner of the awning by slanting an awning pole when there is precipitation. Do that and water will not pool. I will run of the low corner. When sunny, stand the awning high in shade mode.
